Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I claim any money back from a private health insurer?

Yes. The CPAP machines are covered by most Private Health Insurers. Contact your individual insurer to find out conditions that apply.

Q: If I suspect I may have a sleep disorder, what do I do next?

  • Go to your local Pharmacy Help for an assessment of your sleep-related symptoms.
  • If indicated, your Pharmacist will supply you with a sleep diagnostic machine.

Q. Do I have to see a Specialist?

No. Most GP's are aware of the problems caused by sleep related conditions. At any point in time you still have the option of seeing a specialist if recommended by your physician.

Q: Does snoring mean I have sleep apnoea?

Not necessarily. If you are concerned, make an appointment with your Pharmacy Help Pharmacist.

Q: Do I need a sleep study?

If snoring is a problem or you are often tired, a sleep study may be requested by your doctor (medical or dental) to assist in diagnosing the severity of up to 88 possible sleep disorders. About 1 in 3 people suffer from chronic sleeping problems. The most common sleep disorders are Sleep Disordered Breathing, such as Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), and Movement Disorders, such as Periodic Limb Movement Syndrome (PLMS).

Q: Is the diagnostic machine fitted at time of appointment?

No. You will be provided with instructions for you to fit yourself before you go to bed.
